the happiest of hours
Summertime for me means evenings on the balcony, afternoon showers, and longer days to enjoy with sweet friends. But no summer day is complete without a glass of sweet tea.
A few years back I started making sweet tea with Ginger Peach Tea from Republic of Tea (Sorry, Grandma). At this point I don't think I'll be going back to Lipton sweet tea anytime soon. The peach notes add something extra southern to my tea and I've come to prefer it.
Shane took these photos of Megan and I one evening after work. Per the usual, we chatted about our dreams and goals as we collaborated a loosely styled photo shoot. But what I loved most that evening was our conversation on friendship. ( I believe that if we stop long enough, we'll see that God lets us live out illustrations of His word in everyday life that point us back to him, and for me, on that day, it was the sweet tea and friendship.) In the same way that sweet tea on a hot summer day is totally refreshing, so is a great conversation with a dear friend (Proverbs 27:9). I'm talking about the kind of friend who leaves judgement at the door, who encourages you to chase hard after God and the dreams He's given you - the friend who doesn't try to make your situation right with Christianese, but who points you back to truth.
Those are the friends that refresh your soul and put a smile on your face, just like a glass of sweet tea. Go be that friend today.
